The Rocking Chair - Quilt Block Pattern


This quilt block pattern was inspired by the cushion on the rocking chair on exhibit. Make your own quilt block and use it in constructing a pillow, a bag (like the one seen here), or make a few blocks for a whole quilt!

Select your fabrics.

Cut your fabric according to the following:
(1) 5.5"x5.5" square for the center
(2) 4.5"x4.5" square cut both corner to corner once
(2) 6"x6" square cut both corner to corner once
(2) 8"x8" square cut both corner to corner once

Using 1/4" seams, sew the pieces together following this diagram. You may have some overlapping corners that will need to be trimmed later.

Press quilt block flat and use a herringbone embroidery stitch along edges of blocks.
